The Birds and the Bees

Through the eyes of a 4 year old.

This conversation took place after dinner.

Molly: I want a baby like Nolan at our house (Nolan is her baby cousin).

Daddy: Oh, you wish you had a baby brother?

Molly: No, I want a baby, MY baby.

Mommy: Well, you have to be much older, like Mommy to have your own baby.

Molly: Wait, wait, wait. I'm gonna talk to my tummy. "Tummy, can you grow a baby boy in there just like Nolan?"

Off our Rockers!

Yesterday was a crazy day at the Myers house of drama... 2 stories.

1. Geoff is off his rocker.
We moved in our house in September. Those who know me well, know that we started this building process when Ally was exactly 1 week old (November). For months we painstakingly designed our home. Picking out every little minute detail without the help of a designer. We drove to Dallas to Houston...getting tiles, picking out light fixtures, etc. I LOVE our home.
Yesterday I came home with the girls from the pool at a little after 5 pm. Soaking wet. Get a call. Some people are coming to see our house at 5:45..to possibly BUY it!!!!! Now I built this house knowing it was an investment, but I am not quite ready to move again. I was a crazy lady...cleaning (staging)...keeping the girls occupied and changing out of wet swimsuits. The house looked great, then I thought, maybe I should make it look bad!! Our house is NOT for sale. Geoff has been working with a particular family who are house hunting. They are not finding what they want. However, when they describe what they want, it sounds just like our house. So they looked. We haven't heard anything yet...will keep you posted!

2. I am off my rocker...I smashed poor Ally's thumb into a step stool. I didn't realize her thumb was stuck in the part that folds together. She sliced her finger and thru her fingernail! UGLY! We cleaned it and put her to bed with a Dora bandage and she was fine. I got online and read that nail injuries need to be evaluated in the ER. I called the oncall nurse and she said the same. she said they'd have to remove her nail!!! So we get her up at 10 and off to the ER. Our wonderful neighbor Penny came and stayed while Molly slept. 3 hours later...$200 later...neosporin and a bandaid and your good to go. No nail removal, thank goodness, I don't think I could hand that. So Ally has a boo boo thanks to mommy:(

To Maine and Back

What a wonderful vacation.

Maine is beautiful. We had a BLAST with our family (Geoff's sister and her hubby David, and their girls, Makenna (age 8) and Delaney (age 5)). They were wonderful hosts and tour guides.

The weather was spectacular. High 70s during the day, no humidity...sunny skies! BEAUTIFUL! It rained the day we left but hey, we were leaving, so no complaints!

The girls did ok on the flights...Ally was a squirmer and I felt like I had been working out for the 4 hour flights holding her still...but we managed and all was good.

We went to the beach, found seashells, sand dollars, and snails. We rode a carriage ride and a trolley. We went on a lobster cruise and got to hold a real lobster from the ocean!

David is in the Secret Service on George Bush (41)'s detail. So that's why they are in Maine, the Bush's spend May-October in Kennebunkport every year. We got to go for a ride on President Bush's personal brand new boat. He was overseas so we didn't get to ride with him. But we had fun cruising around on his boat. Observers waving like we were famous!

We stayed at a cool place overlooking the Kennebunkport River, The Nonantum Resort. Sources say it's haunted, but we were there over Friday the 13th and we didn't see any ghosts!! We ate LOTS of seafood and lots of fried things in general. The best was the Clam Shack. Barbara Bush's favorite. The fried clams are to die for!!

Molly was so sad to leave...she wanted to stay forever. We spend Sunday, Father's Day in Boston waiting for our 9 pm flight. So we shopped on Newbury Street....FUN!!!

Our flight home landed at midnight Dallas time Sunday..girls in bed by 1:30 or 2...wake up at 7!!! Drove back to Bryan Monday morning. Got nailed in the windshield by flying bolts from a frieghter's truck that flew off (another story, another blog!)

Baby got Bangs!

Ally is not a girly girl.

She does not like hair accessories.

She pulls out all rubber bands and bows.

Her hair is so long and hangs in her little face.

I was fed up, so I got her hair cut today.

I forgot my camera at the salon...

but here she is with her Suri Cruise "like" hairdo!

She is not smiling, but she LOVES her new style.

Dejavu X 2

My parents brought this baby picture of me from when I was 1. We scanned it so that's why it's kind of messed up. Thought it was funny the resemblence to the girls at the same age.

Preparing for Departure

Friends...I need your help.

The Myers are leaving on Tuesday for a vacation. The 4 of us. Driving to Dallas, flying to Boston, driving to Maine. Spending a few days in Kennebunkport. Hanging out with Geoff's sister, Jen and family as this is their summer home.

We have never flown with 2 kids. The last time Molly flew she was Ally's age. I am starting to pack and get things organized.

Any travel tips for me? We didn't get Ally a seat on the plane. I am pretty nervous about the flights. Using our miles we didn't get a good choice of flight times. We leave DFW at 6:30 a.m.! When we fly back we leave Boston at 9 pm and arrive at DFW at midnight! NICE!

2 Good Eyes!

Molly had an appointment with her eye doctor today. She is doing SO well.
Her left eye (bad eye) is now 20/40 with her glasses. An improvement from 20/60 last visit in February. Her depth perception has improved as well. Her lazy eye is corrected although we will continue to see it turn in without her glasses on for years to come. We may opt for surgery to correct that when she is a little older.

Her doctor was so impressed with how far she has come. She first visited him in Feb. 2007 and was essentially blind in her left eye. He said it was amazing how far she has come in such a short period of time. God is good!

The doctor told Molly she has one good eye and one weak eye. Mommy has 2 good eyes and her best friend has 2 good eyes. What does Molly want? 2 GOOD EYES! We will continue patching and of course the glasses, I can't imagine her without them now. And step by step we will get closer to 2 good eyes!
