Hailey, Kim and I hosted a Baby Sprinkle for Whitney at my house on Sunday afternoon. She is expecting her 2nd daughter in November so she needed only a Sprinkle instead of a full shower.

We can't wait for sweet Willa West to get here:)

First Day of the rest of her Life
***Sadly my computer got a virus and I have been without a computer and have failed to blog about a very important day***
On Friday, August 14th my beautiful firstborn started KINDERGARTEN.
I can't believe 5 years have flown by me already. Molly is in all day Kindergarten at Brazos Christian. She went there last year for PreK. I LOVE the school and her teacher. I am so excited to watch her grow and mature over this school year.
She was truly excited about being in Kindergarten and eagerly awaited that first day. I had mixed emotions. On one hand I was ready--ready for routine and to know that she was doing something productive and I didn't have to entertain her all day. On the other hand, it's hard to send your baby off to school. Especially staying home with her these last 5 years, we have spent A LOT of time together and I will certainly miss that. But I know that she is in wonderfully loving and caring hands and that it is all part of life.
So on to the pictures---
My big girl - ready for her big day
Ally--doesn't want her sister to go.
Molly and her AWESOME teacher Mrs. Taylor. We love Mrs. Taylor. But shame on her for that package of Kleenex and first day of Kinder poem that I put away and still haven't read and probably won't until Christmas!!

Full Weekend of Fun
This was our last weekend before school starts so we decided to see what all we could squeeze into it.
Thursday we met my sister-in-law Laura and my nephew Nolan at the Mayborn Mueseum in Waco. The kids all had lots of fun exploring!
Friday we spent the day grocery shopping, cooking and getting ready for my cousin Nicole's baby shower. The shower was Saturday morning and turned out great. Nicole and her husband, Jamey are expecting their first child- a girl on my birthday! I can't wait for Emma Kaye to get here. Nicole is like my sister so it'a almost like I'm gaining a niece!
The girls enjoyed my parent's new home...Molly described it as a hotel!! Thankfully Mimi had everything unpacked and put away-- the girls found some of Mimi's purses and shoes.
Saturday night I went to an old family friend's 30th Birthday Bash in Dallas. We had so much fun we forgot to take pictures:) I got to see some old friends and catch up. Great food- Mexican, Comfort foods, Sushi and dessert! YUM!
Sunday my mom and I surprised Molly with trip to the American Girl Store in Dallas. She has been talking about wanting a doll for a while and I was going to hold off until her 6th birthday in January but decided to it as a starting Kindergarten treat. We ate lunch in the Bistro and she picked out her favorite doll - Chrissa.

Soon to School
Well Kindergarten is just around the corner for Molly. Where have the last 5 years gone? It just doesn't seem possible that my curly haired chunky baby is starting school. Preparing for some tears next Friday on the first day of school.
Last night we had a get together for all the incoming Kindergarteners and PreK kids at Brazos Christian. It was fun getting to see old friends and meet new ones.
As we were leaving I found a few extra kids in my car ready to go:)
My girls, the Vaughn boys and Molly's friend Beth trying to be sneaky!

Different Road
I have made the decision to go forward with training for my very first 1/2 marathon! I plan to run the White Rock in Dallas on December 13th.
I used to HATE to run. In high school I remember our cheer coach making us run 2 miles at the track. I thought I for sure would die right there. HS girls, do you remember this? It was pure torture.
My dad is a runner. Since I was tiny I remember him waking in the dark hours of the morning and going for a run. Usually a few miles. He ran races, and a few marathons. Running is not genetic!!!
Through the years I have given running a try. It is usually short lived.
This past January I started a running program thru my church. I was tired of paying for a gym membership and wanted to give running yet another try. I started out very slow, ran my first 5K, then another. I can say now that when I am running it actually feels good. I've been busy with bootcamp the last few months so my running has been here and there. I ran 3 miles the other day in the heat and kept thinking, OH MY, I'd still have 10 more to go!!!
Say a prayer for me over the next few months. Pray that my almost 32 year old body can hold up during the process. Also, Geoff is planning on doing the Marathon the same day-- pray our running schedules won't conflict as we train!
I'll try to blog about this process so that you all can feel my pain:)

Kappa Kappa Gamma Girls Are We....
I was blessed with 6 awesome college girlfriends that the Lord placed in my life during my time at A&M. We all pledged Kappa our freshman year and became fast friends. We have so many fun and crazy memories. We actually ended our college days living in 2 townhomes that backed up to one another. We took out a portion of the fence to have backyard access. Our landlady wasn't real pleased with this.
We are all spread about these days and are busy with kids and careers. But we have made it a priority to have yearly reunions. This year was really special because it was the first time that the 7 of us have ALL been together since 2005!!
Here is a picture of us from our 2004 reunion.
Back Row: Kristin Lackey Denman, Ashley Gilliam Smith, Karin Bonner Warner, Emily Turner Leigh
Front Row: Me, Kristen Jarvis Leibert, Amy Croft
Let me fill you in on my friends
Kristin Lackey Denman- married to Lloyd, has 2 beautiful kids, Anna and Cole, lives in Dallas
Ashley Gilliam Smith - married to Preston, has 2 beautiful kids, Parker and Madison, lives in Wichita Falls
Karin Bonner Warner - married to Chad, has 2 beautiful girls, Aly and Caroline, lives in Rome, Georgia
Emily Turner Leigh - married to Jason, has some exciting news!, a dog named Peanut, lives in the Woodlands and is a Physical Therapist
Kristen Jarvis Leibert - married to Tony, has a precious son, Luke, lives in Houston
Amy Croft- the crazy single party girl who lives in Austin and works for Washington Mutual (I think- may have changed companies) and does some serious business work that I don't understand:)
Here are a couple of pics from this year's reunion at Emily Leigh's house in the Woodlands. We had a ton of fun. Can't wait until next year's reunion. Next year will be 10 years since we graduated from college.
Love you girls!
